Moving In

Mission:
Interpersonal Drama
Location: Sinclair Residence
Jane Sinclair was so glad that she had good forethought.
When a huge portion of her ship’s crew transferred together to Anser Station, Jane was beside herself with glee. First, the people she loved were all coming too (even if one of them only just admitted she loved her back). Second, the Station was planetside and there was a sizeable Federation colony on it, which included several massive civilian farms. Jane could finally practice medicine her preferred way, among hardy civilians and their farm animals.
When the transfer came in, Jane made arrangements to build a residence near the civilian colony. She was within walking distance of a Transporter station and could get to Anser Station sickbay within minutes, seconds if it were an emergency.
The house had just been finished, and Jane had just moved in.
From the outside, her building was nearly identical to every other house in the neighborhood. One storey tall, hers was coloured blue like her hair. Inside, she customized it to include a living room, a very big kitchen with a replicator and all the amenities for cooking, dining room, two bedrooms (one of which doubled as an office), and a very nice bathroom. The house also had a basement with a storage area, entertainment area (optimal for watching movies), and some gym equipment.
Where the house shined was its backyard. Jane’s yard had a back deck, a small garden, a hot tub, and a small pool. It had a fence around it that was high enough to offer excellent privacy (combined with the fact that her nearest neighbour was a hundred meters away), while not blocking the sun.
Her belongings were being beamed in and her quarters were already reassigned. She spent her day organizing her belongings and furniture, hanging uniforms and other clothes in her closet, and installing the good shower head.
She also took the opportunity to program her favourite easy meals into the replicator, as well as her medication. She would need to report to co-CMO Doctor Vrell later to reformulate her drugs, given their diminishing effectiveness.
From her new home on a true frontier world, Jane knew that her happiness would increase a hundredfold. She could help resident Starfleet officers and civilian colonists stay in good health, and make sure the local farms and pets were well.
She took a deep breath and looked around her house. Things were coming along. She would need to find some art to adorn the walls. And she would probably need some more pieces of furniture. But for now the house was functional. And it was hers.
Tired from a long day, she had a nice long shower and turned in for the night. For the first time since the Vivyra incident, she fell asleep without needing physical release. Exhaustion will do that to you.
